Re: Super Charger instead of Turbo Charger on 6.2L Diesel
You could, but I am not sure if they make a supercharger for that app.
You would have to check Paxton and Vortech... Or you could make you own app. by Buuying the supercharger and having the tubing and mounting brackets made if it is not available. Why not both though? We had a GMC General with an 8v92 Detroit Diesel and it had both..Was the 6.2 a Detroit design? Didn't GM use a Detroit Diesel for a while? Re: Super Charger instead of Turbo Charger on 6.2L Diesel
A turbo is better because the boost it makes depends as much on the load the engine is under as it does on engine rpms. I just got a Banks turbo for my Blazer for $1150 from diesel injection severice www.dieselpage.com. As for doing both, you'd really need to beef up the engine for that. A 6.2 is probably at it's limits with the 10 psi of boost you get from a banks turbo. The Detroit motors are supercharged because they're two cycles and they need a blower for scavanging.

Re: Super Charger instead of Turbo Charger on 6.2L Diesel
Well boost is dependant on intake demand and exhaust outlet. On a supercharger it depends on rpm and intake demand for psi.. Turbo's are much better on 4 cycle diesels b/c it takes very little power to spin a turbo it's just spent exhaust. But a compressor (ie. blower) uses the crank for boose which takes alot of power. Look at this for a top fuel dragster makes 4000+- hp at the flywheel the blower takes over 2000 to turn so in actuality the motor makes 6000+ hp. Maybe that puts it into perspective...

Re: Super Charger instead of Turbo Charger on 6.2L Diesel
Whipple makes a supercharger for the 6.5 Hummer. I read some comments from a guy who had one and he was very satisfied with it and had a lot of miles on the setup.
